Forest Pest Identification and Mitigation

Identification of a forest pest is the critical first step landowners must take when determining a solution to an insect infestation.

Some of the most common forest pests that Montana landowners must deal with are the western spruce budworm, Douglas-fir tussock moth, Douglas-fir bark beetle, mountain pine beetle, and the fir engraver.  Modern Forest Management, LLC is here to facilitate forest management for landowners by identifying the specific forest pests affecting the property and providing a solution that best fits the landowner’s goals and budget.

Fuel Reductions
Forest Thinning

Reducing the risk of wildfire and increasing the health of the remaining trees.

Fuel Reductions

This is the process of removing material from a forest with the goal of reducing the risk of wildfire in the area.  The goal of this project is to reduce the severity of a wildfire if one occurs in the area and not to entirely remove the possibility of fire.

Forest Thinning

This is the process of removing suppressed trees in an overcrowded area with the goal of increasing the health of the remaining trees.  This process can be beneficial to almost every forest in Montana and is a great way to increase the health of your forest.

General Forest Consulting

Start your path to a healthier forest.

We are always looking for more opportunities to provide our clients with the services that they require.  If you are looking to conduct a project in your forest but are unsure where to start I recommend contacting us and schedule a site visit to get you started on the path to a healthier forest.

We have borrowed forests from our children’s children, not inherited them from our parents’ parents. We must use our accumulated knowledge and experience, to conduct an ethical audit on the decisions we make today about changing the way we manage forests.
To do otherwise would be unethical.
